A hypothetical three-team deal could send Tom Wilson from the Capitals to the Oilers, with Tristan Jarry heading to a goalie-needy Rangers team.

The Edmonton Oilers could land Tom Wilson from the Washington Capitals if a three-team trade with the New York Rangers ever came together.
For now it's only a hypothetical, and nothing suggests any of these teams are talking.
Here's how it would work.
Edmonton sends goalie Tristan Jarry and his $5.375 million cap hit to the Rangers for a 2027 fifth-round pick.
The Oilers then send Isaac Howard, Josh Samanski and a 2028 first-round pick to Washington for Wilson.
New York has a real need in net.
Igor Shesterkin is out for the season with a knee injury suffered Oct. 9 against Washington, and backup Joonas Korpisalo is hurt too.
Elliotte Friedman said on 32 Thoughts that general manager Chris Drury is scouting goalies, and Scott Clemmensen was at the Sabres and Canadiens game.

Why Edmonton would want Wilson

Wilson is a 6-foot-4 right-shot winger who could slot next to Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl.
He'd bring size, scoring and playoff experience to Edmonton's top six.
Jarry's salary would cover most of Wilson's cap hit, which sits at roughly $6.5 million.
Timing is the catch. Jarry hasn't been tied to the Rangers, and Frederik Andersen is still recovering, so Edmonton may not be ready to move a goalie yet.

What Washington would need to see

Washington is the hardest sell.
Wilson is signed through 2031 with a modified no-trade clause, and management pushed back on trade talk about him back in 2023.
The Capitals would likely need to fall out of the race first.
If Washington did sell, Howard's offensive upside, Samanski's development and a first-round pick would give them younger pieces.
Everyone gets something, but a lot has to line up before any of it becomes real.

Would you make this three-team trade if you were the Oilers?
