New York Rangers Trade K'Andre Miller to Eastern Conference Rival

The New York Rangers are coming off a very disappointing season, so Chris Drury and the rest of the front office are feeling a lot of pressure to turn things around quickly.

It seems as though revamping the blueline is the team's top priority as they shipped Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks last season, and now they have signed Vladislav Gavrikov to a seven-year deal in free agency.

That being said, the team has also shaken up their forward core with Chris Kreider being shipped to the Anaheim Ducks earlier in the offseason.

Just moments after the Gavrikov deal was announced, NHL insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that the team was working on a deal to send K'Andre Miller to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Miller, 25, was a first-round pick of the Rangers in 2018 and has put up 36 goals and 132 points in 368 career games in New York.

He has become a solid two-way defender although his defensive play can leave much to be desired at times as he is prone to lapses in judgement, often in critical situations.

Miller is a restricted free agent yet to sign a contract for next season, but he is projected to get somewhere near a four-year deal worth 24.5 million dollars.

Of course, that is subject to change now that he is with a new club.

Assuming the Hurricanes see him as a long-term fit, he could get as much as an eight-year deal.

We will just have to wait and see what the return is for the Rangers on this trade, and what kind of contract the Hurricanes will sign their newest blueliner to.
