With the Minnesota Wild not looking to hot this season, they may be considering a full-on retooling at this year's deadline. With that, they could be looking to sell off some of their assets while they still have some value.
One of those assets is goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury, who is on the last year of his deal. Fleury, however, has a No Move Clause, but has recently said he would be willing to waive it if the trade involved the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are strapped for cash, so if they are looking to potentially add Fleury, they would need to carve out a deal that has some of his salary retained. That could mean sweetening it for Minnesota, which the Leafs may already be digging into their pockets to get Fleury.
This may be a risk the Leafs aren't willing to take, as they are unlikely going to sign Fleury to an extension at the end of the year, and probably don't want to risk their future for a goaltender to add to their tandem just for playoffs' sake.
We will see what happens.
