Elliotte Friedman Gives a Huge Update on Which Teams Are Likely to Land Noah Hanifin at the Deadline
With Noah Hanifin becoming the hottest asset on the market, Elliotte Friedman just gave a huge update on where he is likely to land at this year's deadline.
Elliotte Friedman Says Hanifin Officially on the Market and US Teams Likely to Land Him
The sweepstakes are officially on for upcoming free agent Noah Hanifin. While it was widely speculated that he would be traded at this year's deadline, it was confirmed last night by Elliotte Friedman that the defenseman would be on the market.
Not only did Friedman reveal that, but he also indicated that American teams are more likely to land him.
Friedman at the intermission says Noah Hanifin is going to the market, Canadian teams are interested but American teams are more confident they can sign him long-term.
Friedman's Update Contradicts Past Expectations that Leafs Were Frontrunners for Hanifin
The news Friedman revealed is not good if you're a Leaf fan, as you probably thought that the Leafs were the frontrunners to land Hanifin due to Brad Treliving's past relationship with the Flames. With the Leafs in dire need of some help on the blue line, they might end up overpaying for Hanifin at the deadline if the bidding war begins.
We will have to see how the Hanifin sweepstakes play out as the deadline is coming up quickly.
