Tonight the Montreal Canadiens have set a new NHL record in their surprising win over the Tampa Bay Lightning in game 7 of the first round.
Tonight, the final game of round one of the Stanley Cup Playoffs commenced as the Lightning and Canadiens faced off in a major battle.
Heading into the game, the Lightning were considered slight favorites as they had more experience in big games while the Canadiens were the young, up and coming team.
This difference in experience showed up throughout the game as the Canadiens struggled to get shots on goal going the entire second period without a shot.
Even with this shocking disappointment in period 2 the Canadiens stayed in the game thanks to great play from young goalie Jakub Dobes.
In the third period, the Canadiens finally sparked their offense and took a 2-1 lead on a goal from Alex Newhook.
The Canadiens held on to win and will now head to the second round to play the Buffalo Sabres.
In the win, the Canadiens set a new record as a result of their lack of shots on goal.
