Nearing the end of game two of the Stanley Cup Finals, Leon Draisaitl laid a huge hit on Aleksander Barkov, which knocked him out of the rest of the game for which he was not suspended. Chris Johnston has explained why.

During the third period of game two, Leon Draisaitl knocked Aleksander Barkov out of action with this massive hit.

It was later confirmed that Draisaitl would not be getting suspended for this hit to the disappointment of Panthers fans.

Insider Chris Johnston explained why Draisaitl was not suspended for his hit on Barkov.

Chris Johnston on why Leon Draisaitl was not suspended for his hit on Aleksander Barkov:

"When the DoPS looked at this I don't think anybody in the room was happy with the hit. There was a little bit of elbow and obviously left his feet, in this case, Barkov missed half a period. But you look at where we are, the Stanley Cup Final. Ultimately if you want to look at how they got to no-suspension, it certainly doesn't hurt that Barkov appears to be healthy. And the standard does go up. The cost of game three of the Stanley Cup Final is pretty significant, and ultimately that has Leon Draisaitl eligible for game three."

Now Barkov and the Florida Panthers will head to Edmonton for games three and four of the Stanley Cup Finals and will look to build off their 2-0 series lead.
