The NHL season has been off to a frantic start, and on Monday, we've seen two intriguing veterans officially placed on waivers.
With so much talent in the hockey world these days, opportunities quickly come and go in the National Hockey League, and with only so many spots to fill in the world's top league, waivers are seemingly always busy.
After a quiet few days, we've got two more players
placed on waivers on Monday, with Elliotte Friedman officially announcing that two veterans have officially been waived.
Two Veteran Wingers Made Available On Waivers
According to reports, the first of the two is 27-year old
Mitchell Chaffee with the Tampa Bay Lightning, an un-drafted right winger who played in a career high 66 games with the team a year ago.
In seven games this season, Chaffee was held scoreless, mostly playing on the team's fourth line, but with the Lightning starting to get healthy and find momentum, he wasn't needed as much in the NHL now.
On top of that is the newly signed Brett Leason, who was picked up by the Washington Capitals after remaining a free agent all off-season long on the back of 130 games with the Anaheim Ducks over the last two years.
In that time, Leason tallied 16 goals and 39 points, mostly being in the lineup for his physicality and veteran leadership, and quickly after signing him, the team made waivers official as they look to loan him to the AHL's Hershey Bears.
Now, teams out there have the chance to land some solid veteran pieces, but given how full most teams are out there, it's highly likely that one, if not both will pass through and head to their respective AHL teams soon.
