Wes McCauley is one of the biggest named officials in the NHL, but now his potential bias has been called out by fans on social media.

On Saturday night, the Dallas Stars picked up a 4-2 win in Game 7 against their rival Colorado Avalanche, ending a spectacular series with a brilliant period from Mikko Rantanen, who managed to get revenge on his former team.
While Rantanen's brilliance overshadowed everything else in the series, the go ahead goal from Wyatt Johnston certainly drew plenty of criticism, as many believed it was a very soft call to make in that moment with the series and the season on the line for both teams.
It was more likely than not going to be called, but the situation around the call has now come under fire, with plenty of people on social media calling out the officials for the play.
Now, reporter Adrian Dater has taken it a step further, specifically calling out Wes McCauley by noting that the Stars have a 10-0-3 record in their last 13 games officiated by the veteran.
This isn't new for McCauley, who has been accused of favouritism before, but to see the statistics on here combined with that soft penalty call, it's very hard for fans not to connect the dots to justify their frustration for that call that ultimately cost them the game.
It's unclear just how many times during that stretch the Stars have help from the officials over questionable calls, or whether they're simply outplaying their opponents when officiated by McCauley, but given the frustration, it's no surprise that fans have raised a legitimate point regarding the veteran official.
