NHL Announces Big-Money Partnership to Bring Hockey to Over 200 Countries
The NHL's business has grown rapidly in recent years, and now Gary Bettman and the league have announced a huge deal with DAZN to bring the NHL to 200 countries.
According to recent reports, the NHL's expansion fee for a new team is set to close in on $2 billion, and with the league aggressively looking to add teams, it shows just how well business has grown in recent years.
Now, the league have closed another big money deal, as they announced on Wednesday that they have come to terms with DAZN on a huge streaming deal that will reportedly bring the NHL to more than 200 countries around the world.
The multi-year deal between the NHL and DAZN will bring NHL.TV to over 200 countries around the world, excluding however the United States, Canada and the Nordics (Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden).
According to DAZN, this will allow fans across the world to watch every game in every market in just one place, and given the way that the NHL have tried to grow the game in recent years, this was no doubt a huge move for Gary Bettman and the league.
In the United States and Canada, fans will still rely on Sportsnet and ESPN+ to get their fix of the National Hockey League, but beyond that, fans now have an easy and affordable way to enjoy hockey at the highest level.
Only time will tell just how good of a deal this is for the NHL, but with the way they are looking to expand across the world, this can't be seen as anything but a win for Gary Bettman and DAZN.
