Tonight, a new report from NHL analyst Mike McIntyre has revealed that a second team has now become a frontrunner to acquire Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck.

This summer the Winnipeg Jets have been at the forefront of the NHL news cycle after reports emerged that goaltender Connor Hellebuyck was looking to potentially be traded.
Since then, the Jets have been in discussions with several teams regarding a potential trade with the Buffalo Sabres being the most likely team to land him.
However, even with Hellebuyck's willingness to go to Buffalo a deal has not materialized leading reporters to look for other potential options.
According to one report, the San Jose Sharks have now emerged as frontrunner to land Hellebuyck if he does not head to Buffalo.

San Jose Sharks emerge as frontrunner for Connor Hellebuyck

Recently, Winnipeg Jets beat reporter Mike McIntyre revealed that the recent signing of Eric Comrie by the Sharks could make them an attractive destination for Connor Hellebuyck.
Mike McIntyre: Re Connor Hellebuyck: I still believe Buffalo is the most logical landing spot; I also keep coming back to San Jose; and that was before they...inked Eric Comrie, which no doubt would make the sales pitch to Hellebuyck even easier - Winnipeg Free Press (7/11)
Hellebuyck and Comrie of course are great friends from their time together as the Jets goaltending duo over the years.
Additionally, fans and analysts seems to unanimously agree that the Sharks are a goalie away from being a contender out West.
If Hellebuyck is just looking to win in his next home then he can't do much better than San Jose who is led by young superstar Macklin Celebrini.
It remains to be seen whether or not Kevin Cheveldayoff is insistent on trading Hellebuyck of if he will play a waiting game to get someone to overpay for Hellebuyck's services.
As more information is provided on Hellebuyck's future in Winnipeg and beyond we will pass that news along to you.
