Earlier this season Boston Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark was almost traded a new report reveals where he almost went and why it might still happen this offseason.

Elliotte Friedman decided to release a ton of news on the upcoming offseason during his 32 Thoughts Podcast. One of the biggest pieces included Boston Bruins goalie Linus Ullmark. According to Elliotte Friedman, Linus Ullmark was nearly traded to the Carolina Hurricanes at the trade deadline.

Elliotte Friedman on 32 Thoughts today:

«I do believe the Bruins and the Hurricanes talked about an Ullmark deal [at the deadline]. I don't know if it involved Necas. But I do think they talked about something.» #NHLBruins

Linus Ullmark famously invoked his no-trade clause and the trade fell through. However, Jeff Marek and Elliotte Friedman believe this offseason could be a good time for those talks to resume. The trade would include star Hurricanes forward Martin Necas heading to Boston.

Marek speculates about a potential Necas + for Ullmark move

EF says #NHLbruins tried to move Ullmark to an eastern conference contender earlier in the year (he thinks it was #CauseChaos) but Ullmark wouldn't waive NMC

The Carolina Hurricanes have been rumored ever since their season ended to be wanting to part ways with Martin Necas. If they do end up moving him Linus Ullmark would be a great player to get in return potentially. The Carolina Hurricanes future is up in the air with reports of a potential new GM in the coming weeks which could impact these plans.

As developments are made in the Linus Ullmark, Martin Necas, Carolina Hurricanes saga we will pass them along to you. For now the Hurricanes remain one of the favorites to land Linus Ullmark if he is moved.
