Criminal charges may have ended Milan Lucic's career for good
Milan Lucic was arrested last season, and now it appears that his career may be officially over in the NHL due to this.
On November 9, 2023, news broke around the hockey world that Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic was arrested. The Boston Bruins weren't too pleased with this, and ended up placing Lucic on an indefinite leave. Lucic hasn't played an NHL game since that incident.
BREAKING NEWS🚨
#NHLBruins Milan Lucic arrested early Saturday morning, Bruins place Lucic on indefinite leave.
Confirmed by various media outlets
Lucic was scheduled to appear in court, however charges ended up being dropped after his wife supposedly refused to cooperate with the police in their investigation for some reason. Since that incident, Lucic's wife Brittany filed for both an order of protection and a divorce against Milan.
I am requesting that [Milan] have no visitation with the children until such time as he completes an alcohol program, anger management program and a parenting program such that he can be trusted with the children.
Should the court disagree with my request, then in the alternative I request that the court allow only professionally monitored visitation with Soberlink testing to be performed within one hour before and one hour after visitation. I am also requesting that the Court Order all communications between the Parties to be through.
Due to this unfortunate incident, it appears that no team is interested in signing Lucic to a contract, so his NHL career may officially be over.
It looks like Milan Lucic's NHL career is over. He was struggling to keep up last season, and his arrest left him unwelcome back in Boston.
There has been no interest in him this summer and he hasn't been connected to anyone via rumors. At 36, it's fair to say it's game over.
Should Lucic never play another NHL game in his career, he will have ended it off with 233 goals and 353 assists in 1,177 games. Lucic was a true power forward, and the game may not see a player of his calibre for a very long time.
