Corey Perry just gave Jon Cooper's Lightning the cleanest Game 6 message possible: protect Andrei Vasilevskiy or go home.

This wasn't a soft veteran quote after a 3-2 loss. It was a locker room audit, delivered with Tampa Bay facing elimination in Montreal.
The Lightning trail the Canadiens 3-2 in the series, and Perry didn't let the blame slide toward the crease.
His point was direct: Alexandre Texier's goal beat Vasilevskiy, but the breakdown started before the shot.
Perry's leaned into the answer and refused to let the goalie wear it alone.
"It is not on him. It is not on him. He's done a lot of good things for this team this year. It's not on him. It is on the guys in front of him."

Vasilevskiy isn't just another name on Tampa Bay's roster. He carries a $9,500,000 cap hit and remains one of the franchise's biggest pressure points.

Perry shifts the heat away from Vasilevskiy

Perry's quote landed because it targeted the five skaters in front of the net, not the man in it.
His message is not comfort. It is a demand for harder coverage, cleaner exits, and fewer free looks.
Perry stripped Game 6 down to one job.
"We have to win. We have to drag them back here."

This is the kind of line that follows a team onto the plane.
Tampa Bay finished the regular season 50-26-6 with a +59 goal differential, so this isn't about talent.
It's about whether Cooper's leaders can turn Perry's public challenge into a tighter road game at the Bell Centre.
Montreal already has the series edge, the building, and the pressure pointed at Tampa's bench.
Now Perry has made the response personal.
