Viktor Arvidsson was missing from Marco Sturm's practice, and the timing put a sharper edge on Boston's Game 6 problem.

The Bruins are not just managing an injury. They are managing a playoff pressure point.
Sturm's words landed hard: Arvidsson is frustrated, wants a bigger part, but there is no real playing lane.
Boston trails Buffalo 3-2, with Game 6 set for Friday at TD Garden.
Arvidsson gave the Bruins 25 goals and 54 points in 69 games.
He also scored twice in this series, which makes this absence bigger than a routine day-to-day tag.
"He’s frustrated, wants to be a big part of it. Sometimes there's injuries that allow you to play, or at least there’s a chance, with Arvi there isn't."

"It's day-to-day, but it will be hard to get him in Friday."

Boston loses a top-six pressure piece

The safer read is injury first. The sharper read is that Sturm's public honesty did not soften anything for a veteran trying to play.
That does not mean Arvidsson walked away angry. It means the Bruins now have an awkward problem: their coach sounded realistic, and their winger was not on the ice.
For Boston, the loss is clear. Arvidsson drives pace, hunts pucks, and gives Pavel Zacha's line a release valve under pressure.
Without him, Sturm has to patch the top six while protecting David Pastrnak's matchups.
The Bruins went 45-27-10 this season with a +22 goal differential, but this is not a regular-season depth test.
It is an elimination game, and Buffalo can lean harder on Boston's thin middle-six if Arvidsson is out.
Sturm may be right to plan without him. But the comment, the absence, and the timing have turned one injury into a much bigger Bruins storyline.
