The Russian prospect is full of talent with size, speed and skill, and even before drafting him, the Flyers knew that his development for at least the next 18 months was out of their hands.
It was in the hands of SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL in Russia, and after the latest development, that decision may prove costly for the Flyers and their top prospect.
After just 8 minutes two games ago followed by a five minute effort in his last game, the 18-year old Michkov has now officially been benched, and with no apparent lack of performance on the ice, it's anyone's guess as to what happened behind the scenes.
Even before he turned 18, Michkov has put up 11 goals and 25 points in 43 games at the KHL level, so the hope will be that this is just a speed bump before a great 2023-24 season, but right now it's not looking good.
