New York Rangers Announce Captains Ahead of Season and are Instantly Mocked
This morning, the New York Rangers announced their captain and alternatives for the 2023-24 season. The captain remains as Trouba, and the assistants will be Goodrow, Kreider, Panarin, Zibanejad, and Fox. This is the same group as last year, except they added Fox to the Alternatives.
Welcoming a new member to the 2023-24 leadership core.
Congrats, Foxy!
The addition of Fox drew some mockery online as the group of captains is fairly large.
Why is 25% of the team a captain 😂😂😂
Rangers Have a Large Captains Group
The normal number of assistant captains to have on a roster is usually around 3, with it fluctuating for some teams. With the addition of Fox, the Rangers will now have 5 assistant captains on a 23-man roster, which is just over 20 percent of the team.
didnt even know u can have that many assistant captains😭😭
Some fans offered a potential reason, being that the Rangers will alternate who wears the 'A' for home and away games, or alternating games. However, this doesn't change the fact that they are all considered assistant captains.
Calgary had a bunch too, maybe home and away alternates?
