Sportsnet's hockey insider Jeff Marek revealed the Ontario Hockey League is set to approve exceptional status to 15 year-old hockey phenom Michael Misa.
This will mean that Misa will be available for the upcoming OHL draft, Jeff Marek had this to say:
"Sounds like Michael Misa of the Mississauga Senators has been granted exceptional status and will be drafted into the OHL at the end of the month."
"No word when the official announcement will be but I'd assume it would be soon. I believe Misa's performance at the OHL Cup is what clinched it for him."
Misa, 15, spent the 2021-22 season playing for the Mississauga Senators U16 AAA Midget team in the Greater Hockey Toronto League U16.
Misa is from Oakville Ontario and was trending on Twitter after the OHL Cup earlier this month, winning the championship and MVP honours. Misa broke Connor McDavid's points record of 19 points, scoring 20 points, 10 goals and 10 assists in just 7 games.
Misa won't be available for the NHL draft until 2025 and is just the 6th player to have such a honours. The others are John Tavares, Aaron Ekblad, Connor McDavid, Sean Day and Shane Wright.
We have seen 3 so far make a huge impact on the NHL, could he be the next great?
