Lightning Risk Losing Stamkos If They Don't Begin Contract Talks Soon
Steven Stamkos has played his entire career for the Tampa Bay Lightning, and it is hard to imagine him in any other jersey. However, at the beginning of the season, he voiced his displeasure regarding the lack of contract talks occurring over the summer.
Now, according to Erik Erlendsson, the lack of talks could prove to risky for Tampa as Stamkos remains unsigned.
«Well, until he signs a new contract that chance is certainly always there. And I think that's what has a lot of fans here a little skittish about because the longer this goes on and Julian Brisebois, the GM comes out that he's going to wait until the end of the season when he has more information. We assume salary cap, you know, what's that going to look like and where can Steven fit in?
Stamkos Still Has A Lot Left In The Tank But It Might Not Be For Tampa
What is troubling for Tampa Bay is the lack of prioritization on getting a Stamkos deal done. Not only is Stamkos the face of the Lightning franchise, he still has lots of production left in the tank.
