There has been many speculations on what is next for Evander Kane. The Edmonton Oilers took a big risk with Evander Kane and his off-ice issues, and that risk paid off big for the Oilers as Kane produced like a top line forward and apparently fit in very well in the dressing room.
It was announced that for Kane's new contract, if he was sticking with the Oilers, the number would start with a 7, but if he went to free agency it would start with an 8. The Oilers have very little cap space and from the sounds of this post Evander made, he might be done in Edmonton.
Thank you to all the fans who supported me this year. To everyone who doubted me, I thank you as well. To my Oilers teammates, I appreciate each and every single one of you for welcoming me in and embracing me in such a genuine way. I'm grateful to have had the opportunity to play with such a committed, hardworking and loyal group of men. The Edmonton Oilers are a first class organization with such a great staff from top to bottom and I thank them for giving me the opportunity to play for such a historic franchise. To the fans of Edmonton I thank you for treating my family and I wish such kindness and respect.
Thanks You,

Kane went to Edmonton to play with the best player in the league and prove he can be a positive contributor, and he did just that, now it looks like he will be cashing in on his production.
