Shane Wright is currently in Halifax leading Team Canada as the team's captain. Wright's presence in Halifax hasn't stopped the conversation surrounding Wright being traded though. The Kingston Frontenacs currently own the rights of Shane Wright.
As much as the Frontenacs would like to have Wright right in the lineup, they are sitting in the middle of the pack in OHL standings. Now it seems that the Fronts will move Wright to stockpile draft picks. According to former NHL Scout, Grant McCagg a deal appears imminent.
The expectation is that Kingston will trade Wright's rights sometime between now and the end of the WJC. Might he be going to the @Ottawa67sHockey? Stay tuned.
Any team interested in Wright's rights will have had to have been tipped off that the Kraken would be willing to demote Wright to the OHL. Moving a haul worth of picks without this knowledge would set a franchise back years.
Either way it appears if the Kraken do demote Wright, it'll be to a brand new team.
