With the new NHL season approaching, things are ramping up for players at the NHL level and top prospects as well, and with that, the NHL Network have released their annual list of the top-50 prospects in the NHL.
Disrespect to a former top name?
While the top of the list isn't a surprise with the likes of Connor Bedard and several names from the 2023 NHL Draft, one notable decision sees Shane Wright shift down to the No. 15 slot.
He may not have gone No. 1 in the 2022 NHL Draft like many expected, but Wright was still one of the most hyped prospects the NHL has seen in recent years, and is still expected to be a key piece of the future for Seattle.
A stacked prospect group
This group may be one of the most stacked in recent history, with the likes of Dustin Wolf, Matthew Wood, Matt Coronato and others all falling under No. 25, but it's still hard to go past the Wright snub, as Matthew Knies, Simon Edvinsson and David Jiricek all controversial names to feature ahead of him.
Still, none of these lists truly matter until these names get to the NHL level and start proving just how good they can be against top tier competition, but at 19-years old, it's safe to say that Wright has been disrespected in a big way here.
