The Colorado Avalanche are in the market for a veteran backup goalie option and may have found their goalie.
The Avalanche's New Veteran Goalie Option
With an apparent long term injury to current Avalanche backup, Pavel Francouz, the Avs have turned to the free agent market to find their new veteran backup.
According to Avs insider Adrian Dater the Avs are eyeing on signing 38-year-old Jaroslav Halak, with Czech based report Tomas Prokop confirmed the news,
I already hinted at it. Jaroslav Halák is in the game to sign with Colorado, as Pavel Francouz is injured for a long time.
Expect an official announcement on the Halak signing from the Avalanche in the coming days.
Jaroslav Halak has had a very long and successful NHL career but has not been able to hoist the Stanley Cup.
Halak has played in 581 NHL games as a member of the Boston Bruins, New York Rangers, Vancouver Canucks, New York Islanders, Montreal Canadiens Washington Capitals and St. Louis Blues.
Despite being passed his prime Halak was still able to put up respectable season with the Rangers last season. Halak finished the season with a record of 10-9-5 with a goals against average of 2.72 and a save percentage of 0.903.
