The Ottawa Senators were considered by many as the winners of the offseason. They traded for Alex Debrincat, a two-time 40 goal scorer, traded for Cam Talbot, a new starting goalie for the team and signed Claude Giroux a former 100 point scorer.
They started off the year very well, then tragedy struck. Josh Norris was injured and could be shut down for the entire season, and the Ottawa Senators have not looked the same since.
The Senators have been sending multiple scouts to Montreal Canadiens games lately including Pierre Dorion their General Manager, and according to this Ottawa Senators insider, the team could be looking at these 4 players.
The defensive zone is where Ottawa needs the most help, so it would make sense if they were looking into Edmundson or Savard. Both are signed for atleast another season and both have a team friendly cap hit of $3,500,000.
They could also be looking into a Josh Norris replacement, and if so Sean Monahan and Christian Dvorak would both be able to fill the void. Dvorak is signed for 2 more years after this season at a cap hit of $4,450,000, and Monahan is on the final year of his deal at $6,375,000, so it will be interesting to see if they are looking for someone to stick around in Ottawa, or someone who is just a replacement for the remainder of this season for Norris.
