Most of us when we think of PK Subban, we think of him as a member of the Montreal Canadiens.
While in Montreal he was one of the top defenceman in the league, even winning a Norris Trophy as the leagues best defenceman.
After signing a Monster deal with the team, he was traded to the Nashville Predators in exchange for Predators Captain Shea Weber, who would go on to become the captain of the Canadiens.
Many were confused by this deal as the. city of Montreal was in love with Subban, and we just learned what most likely forced the trade out of Montreal.
According to Subban himself:
The tradition with Montreal is that no matter which star players had big names or got bigger than the team, they would trade them.
What happened to me is nothing special in terms of history. Definitely, when my career started, I started my own brand. That was a big deal because they were paying me to be a member of the Montreal Canadiens, but I was telling them, 'OK, so let's work on a way that our brands can co-exist.
"I never looked at myself or ever felt I was 'just a hockey player, always looked at myself as a person who happened to play hockey.
