REPORT: Maple Leafs last remaining RFA contract demands REVEALED - Too high?

We are just over a week away from the starting of the National Hockey League 2022-23 season, and the Maple Leafs still don't have one of their best young defenceman signed.

Rasmus Sandin was drafted in the 1st round back in 2019 by the Maple Leafs and just played his first full season with the team, where he scored 5 goals 16 points in 51 games.

Sandin is going to be a great NHL defenceman but due to a contract dispute Sandin has missed all of training camp, and we know that a young player usually does not do as well if they are not part of camp.

Apparently according to his agent, it's not about money, but playing time. The Leafs have Morgan Rielly, Jake Muzzin and Mark Giordano all on the left side and it doesn't leave much room for Sandin.

While this hold-out may end up working in his favour though as it was announced that both Jake Muzzin and TImothy Liljegren will now miss some time due to injury.

Chris Johnston of Daily Faceoff shared:

It's believed the Leafs and agent Lewis Gross have focused recent discussions on one- and two-year extensions. The Sandin camp has sought a one-year contract above his qualifying offer (approximately $875,000) a two-year term north of the $1.4-million AAV taken by teammate Timothy Liljegren in June.
