After seven years in the San Jose Sharks organization, Noah Gregor has reportedly signed to a professional try-out (PTO) with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
A gritty and physical forward, the 25-year-old Gregor will be looking to earn a contract while bringing a new dimension of sandpaper the Leafs didn't previously have, save for signing Ryan Reaves earlier this offseason.
Gregor, a native of Beaumont, AB, will return to Canada after being with the Sharks organization since the team drafted him 111th overall in 2016. He's since played 178 NHL games, tallying 51 points.
He's certainly more of an energy guy than an offensive weapon, but that type of player is something the Leafs could use far more of this coming season. Should he earn a contract after training camp is done and dusted, Gregor would likely be thought of as a «get you through the playoffs» type of player. Given the Leafs' struggles in getting past the first two rounds, that alone should be welcomed by fans even if he'd likely draw in and out of the lineup.
