REPORT: Kyle Dubas' Next Big Trade for the Penguins Already in the Works
The Penguins' offseason is not done yet as they are shopping around for the perfect complimentary player for newly acquired Erik Karlsson.
Penguins Trade For Karlsson
Today the Pittsburgh Penguins made history by trading for Erik Karlsson.
While the trade is colossal, it breaks records with Karlsson being the first defenseman to get traded after winning the Norris trophy.
With this trade coming, the Penguins are looking to make another cup run, and to do so, they would need the perfect complimentary piece for Erik Karlsson.
The Perfect Complimentary Piece
If the Penguins are looking for the perfect piece they must look for two things. First off, they need to be a shutdown defender to counterbalance Karlsson's defensive weaknesses. Secondly, they would need to be left-handed as Karlsson is a righty.
While there are many players like this in the NHL, they all come at a premium. A few names that fit this description are Jonas Brodin, Jonas Siegenthaler, Adam Pelech, Jaccob Slavin, and Noah Hanifin. While it is currently unknown who they are targeting, we do know that the player will have to compliment Karlsson's style.
