From losing records, to undersized arena's the Arizona Coyotes have become somewhat of a laughingstock in the National Hockey League. They've been in a rebuild for years now and just seem to keep needing to start over.
Recently, former 2016 first round pick announced that he would like to be traded to a contender. He has been on the Coyotes for 7 seasons and only saw playoff action once, and it was by mistake as the NHL offered the 'play in' rounds during the COVID bubble.
To this point though, there has been no trade come for this young star defenceman, and it seems to be because of the huge asking price coming from Coyotes GM Bill Armstrong.
While Chychrun on the Maple Leafs would definitely improve their roster, and with his cap hit, it definitely helps with their problems salary wise, it doesn't seem like it's going to work out now as yesterday the Maple Leafs made a trade for Connor Timmins.
TImmins is no where near the calibre of Chychrun, but Dubas likes his Sault Ste Marie Greyhound players, and Timmins has a bit of chemsitry with Rasmus Sandin who was his defence partner on the Greyhounds.
