Despite having the best and arguably second best player in the world right now in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, who are 1 & 2 in the scoring race, the Edmonton Oilers are currently sitting in the second Wild Card position, 2 points from falling out of a playoff spot.
Things aren't getting any easier for them either at the moment as they lost Evander Kane last week after a skate slit open his wrist, which required surgery. He is expected to miss atleast 4 months which will bring him back in March at the earliest. This is a huge hole they need to fill in the top 6 and it could be crucial for the Oilers to make the playoffs.
NHL Insider Mike Johnson reports that the Russian sniper Vladimir Tarasenko would be a good for the Oilers and that they've already discussed a potential deal for him.
Tarasenko requested a trade already last season, but rescinded it after having a good year with the team. He is on the final year of a contract that carries a cap hit of $7,500,000.
This veteran sniper scored 34 goals and 82 points last season in 75 games, and has started off this season with 4 goals and 11 points in 14 games. Tarasenko is a cup champion and knows what it takes to go deep in the playoffs, he would be a valuable asset to the Edmonton Oilers if they can pull off a trade.
