REPORT: AHL has issued suspension for player who two-handed referee in the face
This past weekend, there was an incident in the AHL where Manitoba Moose's player Evan Polei was angry with a call, letting him temper get the better of him he went to swing his stick at the boards in frustration, but instead got the referee directly in the head.
Luckily for the referee, the injury was minor and he was able to finish the rest of the game, but for his actions Polei received a game misconduct.
This incident was completely unintentional, but regardless, a player needs to be responsible for his actions at all times.

Many people were expecting a very lengthy suspension for this, but apparently we are all going to be disappointed. Everyone but Polei!
Manitoba's Evan Polei has been suspended one game as a consequence of his actions in last night's game at Texas.

This definitely goes to show that the AHL believes the contact was accidental as well.
