After the shocking announcement of the New York Islanders firing head coach Barry Trotz, some teams got very excited. It's not very often you have a chance to add a Stanley cup winning coach behind your bench, especially with the resume of Barry Trotz.
Trotz ranks third all-time in wins among NHL coaches, and it was almost evident that the Winnipeg Jets were going to try and land him after Paul Maurice stepped down as head coach last season leaving Dave Lowry to fill the void which turned into a disappointing season for the Jets. The Jets are hoping Trotz's being from Manitoba could be reason enough to convince him to take the job in Winnipeg.
However the Jets aren't the only one trying to get the services of Trotz for the next season. It has now been reported that the Philadelphia Flyers have scheduled Trotz for an interview on Friday, another team that had a rough season.
