Phil Kessel has played for 4 different teams during his NHL. He was drafted by the Bruins, traded to the Maple Leafs, then dealt to Pittsburgh, where he had the most successful years or his career, before ultimately being traded to Arizona. Now it seems that with Kessel being an unrestricted free agent this summer that the Coyotes are also looking to trade the forward.
Kessel has two Stanley Cups to his name from his time in Pittsburgh, so he clearly knows how to win the big one. So why is it that teams are now shying away from Kessel? According to one NHL Executive, "the Coyotes have been offering Kessel to teams with 50% retention for a 3rd round pick and no one is interested."
Kessel has slowed as he's aged, but he still has 32 points in 48 games this season, while adding 6 goals for the Coyotes. Kessel is also doing this while playing with the likes of Lawson Crouse, Alex Galchenyuk and at times Travis Boyd as his linesmates.
Kessel could be a very interesting piece to a team who is in need of secondary scoring, with the most likely teams being linked to Kessel being two of his former teams the Penguins and Maple Leafs.
