Patrick Kane's Time in Detroit May Be Over Sooner Than Expected
Patrick Kane has elected to head to Detroit this year but there is a chance that he winds up competing elsewhere depending on Detroit's chances of making the playoffs.

The future Hall-of-Famer made it clear during contract negotiations that he wants to compete for another Stanley Cup and feels that Detroit could help him compete for the cup. This is not a guarantee though and could lead to Kane being shipped out in a trade later this year.
Insider Pierre LeBrun reported that if Detroit sits outside of the playoffs come to the trade deadline, they could honor Kane's wishes and move him out to a contending team.
As it stands, Detroit is currently in a wild card position and is tied with the Maple Leafs for points but has played one more game. They are only six points behind the Bruins for first in the division and the addition of Kane could launch them towards being true playoff contenders.
Things could always fall apart though and it could result in Kane being moved out. There are some locks to be contending for the playoffs come the trade deadline including the Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, and New York Rangers, all of which had interest in Kane.
Only time will tell where Kane winds up for the playoffs but if one thing is for certain, he will likely wind up competing for a Stanley Cup yet again.
