At the arena last night the Capitals were greeted by some protestors who felt their need to voice their displeasure with the Capitals superstar.
I'm Russian, right? It's not something I can control. It's not in my hands. I hope it's going to end soon and there's going to be peace in both countries. I don't control this one.
While Ovechkin has clearly stated he doesn't want war, this isn't enough for everyone.
According to those in the arena some fans even went as far as to print photos of Ovechkin with Vladimir Putin and hold the photos up behind the benches.
This situation is likely going to continue to draw ire of fans until the situation in Ukraine comes to a resolution.
