Tonight we saw the puck drop for the NHL 2022 season in North America, and the season started off with a laugh.
NHL Referee Chris Rooney was asked to make a speech to start the season, which he did right before puck drop, which he said:
To our great players and our great fans, welcome to opening night of the 2022/23 NHL season. What better than this? Good luck to all players. Let's have a great season.
Tampa Bay Lightning Defenceman Victor Hedman asked about the speech, which Rooney replied:
