One of the most exciting/dramatic storylines of the offseason was Matthew Tkachuk with the Calgary Flames. On July 13th when Free Agency opened, the Calgary Flames lost Johnny Gaudreau to the Columbus Blue Jackets, and not too long after, Matthew Tkachuk told the team he would not be signing long-term and wanted to be traded.
Since his arrival in Florida, Tkachuk has been trying his best to win over the fan base after him causing the team to lose the franchise points leader in Huberdeau. This even included publicly stating his hatred for the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Panthers state rival.
Tkachuk was recently a 'special guest' of the Miami Marlins, and was given the opportunity to throw the games first pitch, and well, let's just say it's a good thing he is a hockey player not a baseball player.
