When the deadline was looming, one of the major needs for the Washington Capitals was a goaltender, and the best goaltender available was former Vezina winner Marc-Andre Fleury from the Blackhawks.

If anyone has scouted Fleury in the past it has been the Capitals. After meeting 4 times in the playoffs and being in the same division for many years, Fleury and the Capitals have seen a lot of each other.
Fleury is still a fan favourite in Pittsburgh and will probably return there at one point before retirement, and while being great friends with a majority of the players still on the Penguins, with the potential of the Capitals and Penguins meeting against this year in the playoffs, it would not look right having Marc-Andre playing against the Penguins.
