MUST WATCH: AHL Players Throw Fists In Insane Fight
The AHL regular season got underway tonight and some players brought the high-intensity energy right away.
Viel and Gallant Throw Haymakers At Each Other
The Manitoba Moose and Calgary Wranglers got their seasons underway tonight as they faced off in Calgary. After the Moose took an early 2-0 lead, tensions began to boil over until Moose forward Jeffery Viel took on Wranglers forward Alex Gallant in what turned out to be arguably one of the best fights in league history.
The two players appear to know only one move, punch the other guy's face as hard as possible. No defense, no grappling, no tackling, just fists. As Locked on Sharks Host JD Young put it, "All Gas, No Breaks."
Viel, 26, has had a cup of coffee in the NHL with the San Jose Sharks but is still looking to establish himself as a full-time NHLer. He has been known to drop the gloves at the drop of a hat if needed, but this was a great fight, even by his standards. He will gladly take opportunities like this to show the big club what he can do. Gallant, on the other hand, is a career AHLer with no NHL experience.
