Kessel Could Miss Out on Important Career Milestone
Phil Kessel, the NHL's Iron Man, earned that title with a lot of hard work and dedication.
Since being drafted 5th overall by the Boston Bruins in 2006, he played 1294 games for the Maple Leafs, the Penguins, the Coyotes and the Golden Knights.
His 1064 game-streak that started in 2010 ended in 2022, when he missed a game.
Kessel's close to get another coveted milestone, but if he doesn't sign a contract, it may get out of his reach.
Kessel to Miss Important Milestone?
At the moment, Kessel is still an unrestricted free agent. Coming out of his 3rd Stanley Cup win, he showed that he can still be useful to a team.
In his 17-year career in the NHL, Kessel tallied an impressive 413 goald and 992 points. Only 8 points shy from the 1000-points mark.
Most players dream of achieving that. Unfortunately, he might not get it. Unless a team shows interest in him by giving him a PTO (profesionnal tryout), he might be done with the NHL.
He's still a great option for teams that are scuffed by the salary cap.
