Each and every year, it appears that at least one top pick from the NHL Draft doesn't quite pan out the way many expect, and the most notable candidate from the 2017 draft is Nolan Patrick.
He was drafted by the Flyers at No. 2 overall, but unfortunately, Patrick has played in just 197 games, tallying 70 points, with his last game coming back in 2021-22 with the Vegas Golden Knights.
He remained on the team for their Stanley Cup winning season, but didn't play a game due to a reported injury, but according to one insider, those injury issues may have been exaggerated.
The reason Seravalli brought this up on an Oilers podcast is the link with Patrick to Edmonton on a PTO, as many believe he still has the talent to make an impact at the NHL level, but this is a major shock after Patrick was scratched for the entire season, with the prevailing thought that his career may be coming to a close.
