With the highest chance of winning the first pick of any team, Habs fans are excited at the prospect of adding a crucial piece to their roster to help them repeat their highly successful 2021 playoffs where they went to the Stanley Cup, and forgetting about their 2022 season entirely.
There has been speculation from sports writers that the best way to help MTL get back on track would be using the first pick if they get it, not using it on on OHL prospect Shane Wright who is expected to go first overall, but trading the pick to stockpile 2 first round picks rather than 1.

Passing on a prospect like Wright may seem a bit far-fetched, especially considering this goal he scored in the OHL playoffs below, but having 2 first rounders may be a better way to add depth to a roster rather than risk your prospect not adapting to the speed and skill of the NHL.
Perhaps trading down to get teammates Joakim Kemell & Brad Lambert who both played on JyP HT Jyvaskyla in the SM-liiga league.
