After losing 7-2 to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday night, the New York Rangers have their backs against the wall facing elimination in their Wednesday night game, currently sitting 3-1 in the best of 7 series.

Rangers head coach Gerard Gallant had some honest words for his players in the post-game press conference.

The Rangers finished second in the Metropolitan Division of the Eastern conference, 7 points ahead of their series opponent Pittsburgh Penguins.

But to try and keep their postseason alive they'll need more of a commitment to playing defense as Gallant also noted in the post-game press conference.

Gallant has previous coached the Columbus Blue Jackets, Florida Panthers, and Vegas Golden Knights, leading the latter to one of the most successful debut seasons by an expansion team in NHL, and all North American professional sports history.

2021-2022 is Gallant's first season as head coach of the New York Rangers.
