While the cause of his sudden passing has not yet been revealed, the news has left the hockey world and his loved ones devastated.
Richmond Sockeyes President, Doug Patterson, spoke to Global News about the heartbreaking news, expressing his condolences to Sawada's family and friends. It was his oldest daughter's birthday yesterday, he's celebrating her birthday, then going off to hockey and poor fella doesn't return home to his family. It's just devastating and it's just been really tough on all of us.
