Wednesday, in New York City, Brad Marchand attended a hearing with the NHL to appeal his suspension for his actions against Penguins goalie, Tristan Jarry. Marchand's only argument was he felt this suspension was an unfair punishment for his actions, he also felt that if anyone else had committed similar acts they wouldn't have received the same punishment.
While not a very strong case, under the Collective Bargaining Agreement it is Marchand's right to appeal any suspension over 5 games. Today, NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman issued his decision on the suspension, as he chose to uphold the remaining 2 games of Marchand's punishment.
Frank Seravalli broke down the decision as follows"
Essentially boils down to 2 games for the punch, 2 games for the high-stick to Jarry's face and 2 additional games for Marchand's previous similar conduct. - Frank Seravalli
Gary Bettman released a statement detailing his decision.
What do you think should the suspension have been lessened?
