The Nashville Predators are supposed to be a rebuilding team. While their overall record of 12-12-0 is not particularly impressive, they've won 7 of their last ten, putting themselves in the discussion for the playoffs. However, the team will likely be sellers at the trade deadline. One of their blueliners is reportedly already set to be on the move.
It was reported last week that the Predators had given permission to Tyson Barrie's camp to pursue trade options. Today, general manager Barry Trotz backed that up by discussing how he isn't fitting in. He seemed to criticize the player for not playing well with no power play time.
That was not all Trotz had to say about his defenseman though. In fact, he had quite a lot to say about the offensively minded defender. He went on the blame the defenseman for the fact that his upcoming trade was leaked to the press.
It is quite unusual to hear a NHL general manager lay into a player this much in a public setting. Perhaps Trotz took the leak personally or his is upset that the leak will likely hurt his trade value. Regardless, Barrie's days as a member of the Predators organization seem to be numbered.
