Friedman Makes Worrying Revelation About Mitch Marner's Future in Toronto
Friedman revealed a significant prediction about his future contract.
Elliotte Friedman talked about Marner in the latest episode of his podcast 32 Thoughts, and here's what he had to say about his next contract:
"What is Marner's next number? Because he was the closest one to Matthews. When Matthews signed for an AAV of $11.634 million, all of a sudden, Marner became close to an $11 million player. So now that Matthews' number is $13.25 million, what's Marner's number? Is it $13.249999 million?"
Marner will undoubtedly ask for a raise when his current contract expires in two years.
However, is $13M too much?
Marner and Matthews are stars, but they aren't at the same level. Marner has never scored more than 35 goals in a season and has never reached the 100-point mark.
He's a valuable player, but many fans are worried that he'll be overpaid.
