Andrew Shaw is well aware of the NHL Department of Player Safety and has been both sides of these conversations over the years. It was Shaw's hard nosed style that made him a fan favourite, but that same style is what cost him his career at only 29 years old.
After today's announcement that Georges Parros would not be bringing Jacob Trouba in for a hearing with the league Shaw took to Twitter to voice his displeasure with the league and NHL DOPS.
According Shaw he was told by the league on many occasions that a hit he sustained was his own fault.
When asked to elaborate by a fan Shaw provided this reply.
Shaw went even further with another response to a fan who called the hit clean.
Another fan asked about hits Shaw received from Niklas Kronwall and he provided this reply:
Shaw also went on to share some insights on what he's gone through with his own health.
Georges Parros has come under fire a lot over the past season, but it seems more and more inconsistent everyday. It's great to see former players finally speak out against a system that's failed so many players.
