According to Jason Gregor and Frank Seravalli Evander Kane and the Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms of a contract. The contract is expected to pay $1,000,000 in actual cash for this season, which would make the cap hit approximately $2,000,000 for the remainder of this season. The Oilers have approximately 3.8 million dollars in available cap space for this move.
The expectation is that the NHL will announce that there is no supplemental discipline for Evander Kane. This announcement could come as early as today, but is more likely to be announced tomorrow.
Elliotte Friedman added the following today:
I think there is hope that he plays for the Oilers on Saturday night from the Oilers, but I don't know if that's going to happen.
Friedman mentions the NHL is taking their time with this investigation to make sure they didn't miss anything, that's why he might not be able to play Saturday.
Duncan Keith shared his thoughts on the potential signing of Evander Kane.
«Anytime you add a player like that, a good player, you'd be excited by that if that's going to happen. We'd be happy to have him and excited to have him join the group and help us out.»
«If he's a part of our team it's going to be exciting to have a player like that, I would say. He'll be a part of our team if he's a part of our team.»>
It will be interesting to see if Kane can keep his history of difficult behaviors under control as he attempts to salvage his NHL career.
