The Edmonton Oilers had a great playoff run last year, making it all the way to the Western Conference Finals before being swept by the eventual Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche.

They managed to do this, and finish the season with a 49-27-6 record on the backs of goaltenders Mike Smith and Mikko Koskinen. Both of whom played fairly well, but are not the elite netminders a cup contending team needs to win Lord Stanley.
Needless to say, goaltending was the biggest need for the Oilers in the offseason and they went out and acquired veteran free agent Jack Campbell who was left go by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Campbell was signed to a 5 year $25 million contract at the start of free agency and hopes to solidify the netminding position for the Oilers going forward.
Edmonton Oilers captain, Connor McDavid is very happy with the teams acquisition and had this comment about the signing, which also takes a slight jab at the Toronto Maple Leafs:
if he can be the starting goalie for the Leafs, he can be the starting goalie anywhere. Obviously, this is the hockey hotbed and there's a tremendous amount of pressure on whoever fills that net. He's occupied that job for the better part of two years and he's done a great job doing it, so I'm sure he'll transition smoothly.
