Since signing his 6-year $37 million deal with the Jets five years ago, Connor Hellebuyck has established himself as one of the best goaltenders in the NHL. Not having a season under a .910 sv% or over 3 GAA, Hellebuyck is rightfully considered one of the best.
However, entering the final year of his deal, rumors have circulated that Hellebuyck does not want to resign in Winnipeg and will leave in free agency if not given a massive contract or traded.
A recent article for NHL Trade Talk links Hellebuyck to the Kings. Citing the Kings' desire to be competitive and their having a massive hole at goaltender, the Kings could be the prime candidates for Hellebuyck.
If the Kings can secure Hellebuyck, they would instantly upgrade from a playoff team to a championship contender that could realistically beat out the Oilers and the Golden Knights on their quest for a cup.
